Rock Band Land

“How do we create an identity for a playful children's music studio?”

—Duration: 5 weeks
—Scope: Identity System
—Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop

Rock Band Land is a rebranding project for a non-profit music studio in San Francisco, which offers creative music education for children. The final logo combines an electric guitar neck, a musical note, and a fermata. The identity captures the studio’s playful, expressive spirit while creating dynamic, unique visuals.

Process

Concept Development

During my research phase, I found out that what made Rock Band Land stands out compared to their competitors was the engaging, creative, and experimental environment that they provide students. This youthful and curious spirit was what I wanted to capture in my identity system.

In the beginning stage, my goal was to sketch out as many ideas as I could, and to see which ones of them had more potential to be focused on. By the end of the concept development stage, I had 5 different digitalized logos.

Refinement

As I refined my logos, I looked into many variations of each design before narrowing down to the ones with better forms. By the end of this process, I ended up with three logo options with applications for each of them.

The first logo, which best describes the desirable attributes became the final design.
